Ordering new head

Hi folks,
Order going in to Roughtrax tomorow for
Cylinder head
bolts
gaskets
thermostat
rad cap
and temp switch that I managed to snap off !!

Off work next week so wonder what I'll be doing?

Also going to re-fill the fan oil but posts seem to vary as to what viscosity 10,000 80,00 etc so any last miniute ideas and a good source.

I used 10,000 cst
got the oil(silicone fluid) from my local R/C Model shop .

I put in 7000 very happy can hear the fan cutting in and out as it should

Cheers for the info folks, Head & bits arriving today (raining) so it will not be long before I'm stood with a pipe, tube or wire on my hand trying to figure out where it goes.

If I had a tool kit with all the sockets and spanners in drawers and all in order I would miss all that guess work.

Joking aside, I think you should take this head swap seriously, considering
how much you've just spent.
Do plenty of research and study any manuals you have, make sure you know
what your doing before you start. There's loads of case's where this swap
has gone pear shaped, it needs to be done properly.

A good start would be to organise your tools properly, and your work area.

So had around 8 hrs on the job so far, looks like same again to finish. I'm working on the drive in between showers snd trying to remember what goes where after removing everything around three months ago. Also got 2 X 50ml of 7,000 ctf silicone oil for the fan (getting quite the little expert now). Next job is new temp guage.

Also thinking of re directing ATF through unused aircon rad before main rad.
And adding a run on timer to electric fan.
Doing the turbo mod with washers (if I can find the link)

Head update

When replacing new head never put the heater plug bar on BEFORE the fuel return pipe. That would be realy stupid

I recently did the same mod, it helps a lot on the hills because the truck isn't so eager to drop down a gear at the first sign of work. I also think it helps fuel economy at cruising speed (60 ish) as you seem to be a bit lighter on the old right foot. Did about 500 miles last week and it's certainly a nicer drive.

That's just wha I was thinking, keeping a slightly underpowered truck mooving at a better pace.
