Front diff leak.

Hi all,
Hope somone can help me with this.
The front off side, diff seal has started leaking,
and what I need to know is, is the "snap ring",
in the ADD drawing, (in the RED circle), truly a
"snap ring" or is it a "circlip".
Because if it's circlip the front diff cover will have
to come off by the look of it, to remove the shaft.

B.T.W. it's stopped leaking cause it's low on oil now,
glad I've got free wheel hubs fitted.
