2.4 convert to 2.4td

my once loved truck is still at the garage, the new head came back from test and was fine as was gasket. £1200 later i'm told that i can have a 2.4 non turbo english toyota engine block for £900 (2nd hand) and have all the goodies transfered from my jap engine onto it. is this a good idea running out of money, patience the will to live........

havent I read that over there you can get a good recon'd non'turbo complete engine for the same £900 with warranty???
