  • ball joints and tracking rods front

    Help pleeeese

    IM putting new track rods and ball joints on the front of my surf and i could do with some help any one know approximatly the distance to the two end ball joints so I have an idea where to start the measuring from the beast is an LN130 model

    Here we go again.

    As you unscrew the old ones, count the number of turns until it comes off, screw the new one on the same number of turns. Then have the tracking set professionally. An alternative method is to use a bit of tape to mark the position of the old track rod end.

      I used a vernier and then measured what came off.

      I decided to change the whole lot so it was easy for me to measure them whilst on the truck, build them up and then swap them over.
      I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

          Well it was raining and the local tirespot di the work and aligned the wheels for 60 quid i was well chuffed,

            Check them for grease now they are on.
            The tie rods I purchased recently had no grease in them!

            There are a few other threads about this recently along with one thread about someone who received totally different track rod ends to everyone else (that didn't have any way to grease them at all).

            It's worth a look to make sure the rubbers are full otherwise they won't last.
