Strange tranny problem

Hi everybody. I drive a 1991 2LTE auto tranny surf. Today I was parked and I go to throw it into reverse to back out and it wont go into gear. Try all the gears and nothing. When I take it out of gear and put it back into park it makes a grinding noise. I then notice my overdrive off light is blinking on and off. I had it towed out and am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?

I ended up bumping the transfer case into neutral and it was stuck good. All is well now and had it fixed for free
