  • 2.4 cyl head worries

Hi, just been checking my exhaust around the down pipe (think it's blowing) and i notice what looks like a piece of cast broken from the cyl head right next to the rear-most exhaust manifold bolt. The affected area looks about 20mm square there are two holes left about 5mm round with what looks like ball bearings in them. The engine runs fine and nothing appears to leak out of them. Any ideas what's missing? will this cause me any problems?
    thanks

Hi, managed to get some pics this morning. hope this is clear enough. the casting on the right is the exhaust manifold. the damaged bit is almost touching the manifold, it appears that what looks like ball bearings are so shiny this must have happened very recently. it's odd how nothing appears to leak from this. if bits are falling off my surf it must be getting lighter and returning better mpg!

I think thats how they all look, the ball bearings are how you drill a chamber and then block the opening to stop leaks.
