    Hi all,
    had my Surf for just over two weeks now(2.4ssr-x manual)great trucks.Ive done a full service,all filters,oil ect and its running like a dream.Can anyone tell me if it is possible to open up the diesel pump to gain a few more hp,as every little helps especially as my last car was a GTO.

    Depends if it is the EFI or not. On the EFI all you can do is increase the maximum fuel rate, everything else is controlled by the ECU. There are various things you can do though such as.

    1. Get a full Diesel Power up conversion by someone like Van Aaken
    2. Fit an adjustable wategate controller on the Turbo to free up some more boost.
    3. Get rid of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (Look for EGR on here for how to do it).
    4. Fit a larger diameter exhaust - 3 inch Dump from the Turbo (front pipe) then 2.5 inch for the rest.

    Or you can just get used to it being less powerfull than the GTO. The Surf is no sports car however just take it off road and you will see how good the Diesel really is. Low end torque is much more important than top end power for a 4x4 especially when taking it off road or towing.

        If you open up the bonnet it will say EFI across the top of the pipe running from the Turbo to inlet manifold / Throttle housing. The engine type on the VIN plate will be 2LTE.

          i still want to know on the EFI how can you increase the maximum fuel rate.
          and also what is the injector nozzel size of the 2.4 LTE engine or part no. because i changed mine and have problems of black smoke, problem is i lost the old one , help need plz.

            black smoke is unburned fuel... leaves little black dots everywhere too!
