noisy start up

when i start the beast up first thing in day,a ploom of greyish/white smoke for a few seconds and a kind of diesel knock for approx 2 minutes after.have been told possibly blocked injectors,tried "nitrox " diesel treatment but only seemed better until tank refilled.any ideas for best solution

out of interest do you get black smoke for a while after start up i.e about 20 30 miles???

no smoke at all after 2 minutes of driving

It's only a possibility but have you checked out your glow plugs?

the white smoke might be moisture setting in the exhaust overnight when you start up it blows it out. my truck has a slight rattle/knocking in the mornings,its had i good service so i put it down to the oil draining to the bottom of the engine when parked up overnight, it would take a minute for the engine to pump 10 litres of cold oil around.

had the same problem wuth my bus, checked the glow plugs and only 1 of the four was working, still started thou!!!!! replaced and no smoke on start up.
