I have a hilux surf 2.4TDI Iwas Friday on the motor, there was a noise that sound like lose metal in the engine, but it was not an inside noise, any way driving home last night the car was driving and all of the sudden the revs went through the roof, and the car was not going forward at all and you could hear that it sound like something was slipping badly.

Now could that be the cluch that has gone even thou it all the gears work well only now and then it slips!!!

Not as much as you need to proof read post before posting..

Assuming its a manual gearbox, there is a good chance the flywheel has fallen apart.
