Lsd?

Hello People
I was poking about under my truck this afternoon and found a small notice stuck to the centre of the rear differential housing.
The legend read “LSD ONLY”.
Presumably this is the type of oil used in this type of gearbox.
Problem is I have no idea what viscosity LSD indicates.
Help please an old stupid pratt.

Could LSD stand for limited slip differential?

Means you have a limited slip differential and should only use oil which is suitable for that sort of diff. Not sure about grades but it will have some reference to lsd's on the bottle. I would have thought any good motor factors could supply the right stuff.

Thank you both for your replies.
I know about limited slip differential gearing from my days in amateur rallying back in the 1970’s. I must admit I did not to expect to find my lumbering old truck was likely to need one. It might be helpful in the mud if I ever get to really have a go.
