  • 12,000 mile service...........

My Surf is going in for a 12.000 mile service. This includes changing all filters and engine oil. Topping up Auto box, power steering, brake, axle, antifreeze fluids. Greese all hinges and nipple pionts. Check brakes and all electrics. The price £105. I think this is a cracking price what do you think?
It's being done by a 4x4 specialist mainly in Range/Land Rovers. But they will do any off roader. What i liked about this place was when i told them it was an import they didn't shake their heads tut tutting saying parts will be expensive and hard to get hold of.
I'll let you know how it goes, it's booked in Mon next..............muncher

Dont tell us ur changing ur engine oil every 12,000 miles, I think thats not possiable because u can only change every 1,800 miles.

Oil changes should be, every 3000 miles or 5000kms oil, then 6000miles or 10,000kms oil & filter. Personally I change the oil & filter every time, for the couple of quid a filter costs I can't see the point in putting new oil in and leaving the old filter in.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

I'm the first UK owner so i don't know how long the oil filters etc have been used. My idea is to start with a 12ooo mile service then change oil/filter every 5 or 6000 miles.

I change my Oil and Filter every 5k
            Fuel Filter at 10k
            Air filter at 20k
Coolant flush and replenish at 25k

I have just done the whole lot together including a new T-Belt, Thermostat and pressure cap. So now the old girl is good for a while......I hope

Given that I now get a good price on Filters I may do my Fuel one at 5k and the air at 10k

I agree that putting new oil in and leaving the old filter is a bit senseless, sorry no offence to those who have done it.
