  • re-torquing head bolts

    after changing a head, do the head bolts need to be re-torqued after a certain amount of miles?

    I'd think not, as on Surfs they are stretched as opposed to torqued.

        noooooooo, definatly not!

        Like Andy said, they are stretch bolts, the elasticity of the bolt holds the head down, if you start messing with them you ruin the spring in them, like over stretching a spring, it just goes baggy. Thats why you have to 100% stick to the tightening specs, and never, ever, reuse the bolts either.

          If you remember my post a few weeks back.
          The chap who bought my old 2.4 about 2 years ago is trekking around Europe and N and S Africa.
