what does it mean when the T-belt light coms on on the dash - it happened when the car hit 200,000 km on the clock?

Time to change the belt (tensioner, idler, water pump and seals recommended as well) unless it was done recently.

          Thanks

Can it be driven until the belt is replaced?

That's a difficult question. It depends on the condition of the belt. Without knowing the history of the vehicle I can't say. Mileage as well as age plays a part.

Water pump and associated belts were replaced 6 months ago. Mileage at 200K.
Cam belt replaced at 100k I think.

Cam/timing Belt are one and the same in case you don't know.

I did wonder - not a technician. The belt was replaced 4 years ago at about 110,000km. could it be poss that the light came on because it hit 200k in the clock?

It should be fine for a few hundred miles but to be safe do what nev said & change the lot if your planning on keeping it a while, for what it "could" cost you in the long run i would'nt take any risks.

I & many others on here buy part from this place.

                        Hope it helps.

Thanks for the advice very helpful - I'll get it checked out during the week - not planning on going far this weekend anyway. Merry Christmas to all.

Yeah, should be fine for a while if changed at 110,000Ks and only 4 years old providing the tensioner and idler are ok as well. It's a bit of guesswork so change as soon as possible.

The cambelt was changed at 137,000 km -and the pump assembly was changed at 180000 with the cam cover removed but the belt not changed. will it be all right for another 200km or so? Can't change it until next week.
