Thanks stormforce, Ive been trying to jump start it with my lexus but the starter is now slowing down even with jump leads but it wont fire, I think the priming might of caused some sort of problem as I drove it last nite, and normally it starts the 4th or so time on a cold start.

Im gonna leave it a while before I attempt it again, what is the best way to jump start it, leave the jump leads connected for a while before firing each time?

WOW that was a mission to get it started, it just fired up now, I had to keep the leads connected and keep trying eventually it fired up thats got to be the best moment of the day!....Thanks stormforce for your help and guidence this morning its much appreciated mate!

I think I will have to get the glowplugs changed, just before I dig in and attempt that job, is there anyway to check to see if there at fault?

Pull them out and check resistance. Should be less than 1 Ohm.

I recently brought a 2.4 TD surf with a few issues, one of the problems Im gonna need help with is cold start, before I brought the car I was told that the manual choke is missing, mine is a JDM 1993 Automatic. Ive now realised that the diesel pump has been changed, and im presuming they have put on a later model one which didn't have manual choke, this creates a big issue in the mornings!
It takes me almost over a minute to start it up, and thats with cranking it up around 15seconds a time as I don't want to damage the starter!
Any help on how I can improve cold starts would be much appreciated, as its getting quite annoying especially when my dad drives it as i keep getting ear ache!!......
Just get some new glowplugs fitted anyway as they have a finite life.

But make sure you buy some decent ones, as I bought some cheaper ones at the start of the year and they were knackered by October!

Reading your other posts it sounds exactly like the problems I have just cured with a new set of plugs.

              a little more info please

are "Blue Print" glow plugs any good, just had 4 put in mine, seems to have done the job but ive never heard of that brand. ALSO, looks like one of my batteries is failing, only three turns on last friday and it died, couldnt even jump start it. However, my surf has two batteries, can i take one off to deep cycle it and swap for the other without anything not working. Ive got no toys on the surf, winch, extra lights etc so i dont really know what the second (on drivers side) battery is doing.
              Thanks

Thanks for the advice mate, at the moment I can get it to start on every 3rd or 4th turn in the cold mornings, once i get some free time I will change the glow plugs over. However when i did the fuel filter priming it seemed to not like that at all, as I had to jump start it and took me over half a hour to start it up.
