White smoke is incorrect timing. Can you show us (drawing or photo)exactly how you set up the timing?

I set the timming as per manual cam pulley mark at 6 o'clock, crank mark at 12 o'clock without pulley on and injector pump pulley mark at 12 o'clock.

Did you turn the engine at least one full revolution (by hand) and re-check the marks? And did you line up the casing marks correctly?

Did you take the pump out? I can't remember what you were doing when you mucked things up.

Yes, removed pump to replace seals as had a leak. Could the pump be 180 degrees out like it can be on the crank of cam or dose it not matter. But don't think it turned while it was out.

No, the pump shaft is keyed so that the pulley can only go on one way. How much of the pump did you strip? Specifically, did you remove any springs at any point?

The top cover, 2 small seals one on each side and the big one on the back where the 4 injector pipes go.

There's your problem. You ned to have the pump set up and re-calibrated by a specialist (not a mechanic)...

Ok thanks for all your help, I'll get it out and I know a diesel company near me who reset my injectors I'll give them a call in the morning and see if they can do the pump. Once again thanks for your help and patience. Dave.
