  • difficult to change gear

    hi guys

I drive a manual 2.4 TD surf, and am having trouble changing into 2nd gear, either from first or down from third. It generally only is difficult when cold, after the engine warms up a bit it doesnt seem to be a problem. I dont want to force it, so I usually release the clutch and try again, but this is obviously a bit of a pain and I'm worried it could be a major gearbox problem? The other gears seem to be ok. I have checked the transmission oil level which is fine. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated..

    Cheers

    Probably age.
If it's fine when it's warm, either live with it or if it's unnaceptable, it's a gearbox out and investigation. You could try double declutching
    Non intercooled nothing.

Problems like this are sometimes caused by the nylon bush in the top so check that out first. It's cheap to replace.

It's at the base of the gear lever.
Remove the plastic surround and then the four bolts that attatch the lever to the gearbox.
