Surf Gearbox

Hello all,

I bought a J REG Surf 2.4td LN130, for 600 quid as a upcoming winter project, hopefully doing bit by bit and eventually done for april '10 time.

One problem i have got with no solution apart from a new gearbox, is on my auto box, when going into second, bit of a vibration going on, till it goes up to 4th.

Any ideas? If it is a knackered gearbox, is a recon one the option, and how much am i looking at.

Is it auto or manual?
I have an auto gearbox here for a 2.4 which had £400 spent on it about 18 months ago.It was GWH's old truck from on here.There is a thread on here about all the work he had done on it.I drove the truck 300m home and it went really well.I have the gearbox here for £75 plus courier.

What happened to it?

It started juddering in reverse. Then I lost neutral, it will drive forward when in neutral. and I cant move the low lever cos I cant get neutral.
Front clutch is sticking and when I hit reverse it is grabbing 2 gears forward and reverse. So needs a major repair. second hand box is the cheaper option.
