did mine a few months back.
took it apart myself and back together
only cost was bearing kit and 30 squid to local engineering firm to press the old one out and new one in.

i think 110 is probably typical garage price

talking about wheel bearings, ive got a surf been lifted 4 inches and got meaty wheels on, which wen going over 30 there is road noise, how do u know apart from the wheels actually falling off that the bearings are knackered?

It'll sound like rumbling sh1t. Road noise from meaty tyres is normal. You'd know if the bearing was shagged.

Oddly enough, there was hardly any noise at all from my rear wheel bearing, but when we took the wheel off, the hub was flopping around like a wet fish!
