    Auto Box Failure 2.4TD Surf

    Hi all.

    Just after some info if at all possible. The autobox failed on my Surf yesterday at the Bridgewater Services on the M5. Stopped for BK and some snacks for the kids and when we went to leave, there was no drive at all, in any gear. All we got was a gear grinding crunch when we returned it to 'Park' and the A/T P light on the dash illuminated. Had to have her recovered to Dorchester after the RAC guy added some ATF and said it's 'had it'.

    So I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to what to get our garage to look for. Are the symptoms described synonymous with a common fault or something other forum members have experienced? Any info in speeding her recovery would be of great help.

    You have the 4wd lever in neutral, pull it right back whilst in park or neutral, all will be well.

        If it IS that, I feel a joint IOTY award to the RAC guy and Papa'F might be appropriate.

              yeh I think so too because I have done it before.....
              when I just got the surf...
              Lucky I never rang the RAC haha I just rang Stormforce and when he stopped laughing he told me what it was....

                So thank u to Albannach and TobyJug, I owe u guys a beer if ever I'm so fortunate as to meet either of u

                Storm? Need a new rear glass m8 and a hotline help number in case I make any more noob mistakes.

                Now, time to tear a new 1 for the RAC
