  • post your mpg

i know this has been asked a thousand times but can the 2.4 owners post their mpgs please.. i turned down the screw on the spill chamber on fuel pump , this resulted in less black reek , but i had to turn up a little bit as i could smell the engine heat while driving.... also it was slow as fook..so ive turned it up slighty, which has gave me roughly 22mpg on everyday driving.. 25ltrs gave about 200km.. ive put another 25 ltrs in as i roughly do the same amount of journeys evry week...SO PLEASE POST YOUR MPGS FOR ME AND OTHERS...

There is absolutely no point in posting everyones fuel consumption figures. The info is archived from all previous topics on the subject if you want some figures. However, they're all completely pointless.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Matt here. This one has been done to death many times over.

But for the record my (nearly) six year (July this year) average is 21.05mpg, my best is 26.54 (acceived whilst slip streaming a HGV on the M6 whilst overloaded and towing), and worst is 16.34 (fuel pump leaking).

If mpg is a concern then you've bought the wrong type of vehicle.

At present mine has done a month on a tenner..........(busted water pump)
Myself and plumb bob did a fuel/mpg thingy last year whilst going to wales.
We got about 28-29 mpg at a constant 100 kmh, and about 16-17 on the a roads, this went down to about 7-8 offroading. As bushwhacker says, if fuel is a major concern you really dont have the right vehicle
              Non intercooled nothing.

Thats a little harsh, people do want to know what the average MPG is, even if its just to tell if your truck is running properly. Its also nice to know there is actually someones getting crappy MPG than you.

but it has been covered here lots, and is very hard to tell true MPG accurately. especially the 2.4's which come with so many different gear ratios, add that to how i've seen some people drive and two identical looking trucks will get wildly different MPG figures.

It's not harsh, merely realistic. One merely has varying levels of crap where MPG is concerned. Depressingly crap and vaguely crap still equate to crap.

Plus the ambient temperatures, altitude, local terrain etc. Also, as you say, whether someone feathers the throttle when driving or classes everything else as a moving target has a great effect too.

There, there Wodders. I never said we did our cousins as a rule. I merely mentioned that it's legal. You may not have much choice if you want to pop that cherry though.

                        ok ok

as i mentioned in my first post i knew it has been covered hundreds of times , i was only trying to see if there was an average , i read truckman was getting 24 and 29 /30 on lon journeys... i thot that this could be the best.. as for it being the wrong type of truck , no way.. i enjoy my surf and it allows me to carry the family about no probs...
thanks to all for the replies ,i was hoping to find some kind of poll already done in the search but nowt there, and as pointed out everyone has asked this before but there are no definite answers.. there is no magic cure ..

note to mods pls pls close this thread

thanks again all and ill keep enjoying the forum as normal, its a good place for knowledge on surfs etc
