L is 1st
2 is 2nd
D is 3rd
OD is 4th
L & 1 are used to override the auto selection system
L will hold the gearbox in 1st
2 will let the gearbox shift between 1st & 2nd only.
These are usefull in long steep decents to assist with engine braking as you can stop the autobox shifting up through the gears as the speed increases.
Obviously you need to be carefull not to redline the engine if using these. My other cars a QUAD

Hi mate,
L low, like 1st gear
2 like 2nd gear
D does what it wants.
O/D 4th
Find a steep hill, and facing down it.
Try this, selector in N,
push transfer lever into low 4wd,
pull selector into L, foot of brake,
and see how slowly it goes down hill. Awsome.
REMEMBER to put every thing back to rwd, Don't
use 4wd on the road.If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.
