  • whAt is this sensor

its on the intake side of the block beside the oil dipstick tube. 2 wire sensor. the pic shows its location. i actually broke it trying to take it out.
the motor is a 2.4td from a 92 surf. if any body knows bout this sensor please share the wealth of knowledge.
the reason i ask is my 2.4 block is no good so i have a 2lt from an 89 that i wanna swap into my 92 but the 89 was mechanical injection. just curious if it is possible or will i have issues?
the differences between the 2lt and the 2lte that i can see on the blocks is:
    -bottom alternator bracket
-and this sensor that i explained.
thanks again for any advice or help.

If it's near the engine mount then it will be the Crank Position Sensor. Earlier blocks will not have the provision to fit this. You need both this and the coolant sensor which is toward rear of block and near top for the EFI ECU to work properly.

              It's the Crank Sensor

Have a look bottom centre of this pic.
