just about too take the head of my 2.4 turbo diesel.whats the best way too lock the engine too undo lower pulley bolt is a auto box,and also do i have too check piston rise on block for the right head gasket or what please? ta

I use an air powered nut gun,same as used in tyre/exhaust centres.
You could always slacken it off B4 you take it all apart

I used the breaker bar wedged against the chassis and the starter motor technique.

I used that metod aswell,
Just wedged a long handled rathchet against the frame and turned over the engine for a second. Just to crack the bolt loose.
Mine came out a piece of p1ss.

would try that but egine not running so have too think of something else

There are threaded holes in the pully , i made up a bar that bolted into the holes and locked it up that way
