  • It's never the head gasket, is it....

    Right....
Garage tested the truck, said it was pressurising... And it's never the gasket, so I assumed (yes I know- never assume...) the head was gone.
The interior is now stripped, and Today I took the head off, just out of morbid curiosity, really, and the head looks fine to me, but I'm not sure about the gasket... I'll stick some pictures up in a bit, But I am confused now.. there are some small white deposits on the face of no.2 pot on the cylinder head, no cracks anywhere... The oval waterways are all either blocked by the gasket, or only have about a 3mm hole through them, Is this normal?
All the pipes were clear, water pumps fine, rads clear as a bell thermostat is ok so what the hells going on????

Only real way of telling is to have the head pressure tested

charlie, the head could be cracked internally.if it is you would never know without pressure testing.

In my opinion it looks like coolant had been around the face of the block between 3 + 4 cylinders.

Which would employ HG failure rather than a cracked head?

There is corrosion around the top of the bore on no.4 pot as well.. and a little bit on the top of no.1 piston....I think its safe to say its Donald Ducked.... Good job I got a 3.0 rather than try to fix the old girl!
