  • timing belt light

hi all, when your timing belt light comes on do all the electrics cut out as well
momentarily? this just happened to my wife as she took our surf out for a test run after my marathon starter saga (i've just refitted the starter)
she said the timing belt light and alarm came on and everything cut out,but started moments later(timing belt was changed by me 4 weeks ago)
any help will be much appreciated

you will need to reset the timing light. On the clear face of the dash is a rubber grommit take that out and use something long enough to press the reset button inside. You may need to reset the ecu also by disconnecting the batteries foe 15 mins and if the dash lights still come on you'll have to pull the fault codes

You shouldn't get the electrics cutting out after changing the belt/resetting the t-belt light. Sounds like a short circuit somewhere -trace all wiring to/from starter and battery(s)
