How do you disconect the annoying speedbell thing that cuts in at 60mph??

do a search, there's an annoying thread that drools on.
further to this, i've cruised at 80mh i mean 70mh - no bell!
but the afore mentioned p****d me each time i touched the ignition switch with the key (door open), so i pulled the wire off the courtesy switch inside door shut. no light but, NO BELL

Pull the dials out:

and cut one of the wires to the little metal box behind the speedo.
