  • Down on power

Before you start, yes i know i'm driving a 2.4 and I know she is not fast!!

I drove another 2.4 the other day and the engine was much more responsive than my own and more power too, not a huge amount but noticeable

It has a new head on it, (was the same before and after the head) and had a good look at the block too and it all seemed in good condition.

So what would cause it to be down on power.

    Fuel Pump
    Fuel Filter
    Air Fillter
Turbo - turbo light comes on at 2k revs a little below what is normal but i never thought about it

Any help guys, i'm starting to enjoy my surf but I wasn't happy with the power, now i know there should be more in it I really want to get to the bottom of this.

There does seem to be a range of difference in the 2.4's.
Best you can do is just check all is working, service regularly, and look after them. Your turbo light is about right, just below 2k when under load.
    Gone from 4x4 to 1x2

Found this thread when searching for fuel pump info http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...&highlight=god
Describes a mod to get more power out of the 2.4 that seems fairly simple, not tried it myself yet though so can't say how effective it is or if it'll cause any problems.

Maybe re-check for leaks in the pipe between the turbo and the inlet manifold. I replaced the hose clamps and cleaned out (degreased) the connections and mine seemed to run better afterwards.
