Turbo light not coming on ? and max 75mph

I have just bought a 1993 Hilux 2.4 Auto I must admit I dont know very much about them. I was just reading on here that the turbo light should come on at 2500 or so revs. I checked mine and although the light comes on with ignition it does not come on at all while running, also when I was driving it back from purchase it was very slow to pick up and the max speed on a level road is approx 75mph on the Motorway I was getting about 80mph flat out. Is this normal for this vehicle? I would be grateful for any help on this.

you'll get around 80mph with the o/d off was this displayed on the dash ???
you should hear the turbo whistle the surf comes in just under 2 tonnes but for its weight it can shift i have a 2.4 & it can fly

No it was in overdrive ....I cant say I heard the turbo.

i suggest you take it back & tell them to sort it out mate.

But would you say the turbo is not working as I am only getting that speed? what speed should I get ?

ive not taken mine above 90mph iff its slow & you only get 75mph its not right. did you get it from a dealer

No I bought it in a private sale. I already stopped the cheque once because their was several things wrong i.e a/c c/d and worn tyre ...I issuedanother cheque the other day I just hope I am in time to stop it. I must say apart from the speed the engine runs well or seems to

speak to the person who sold it you & see what he's going to do about it.

It may be just a the turbo sensor vacum pipes not connected correctly. I've heard of this problem before and thats all it was.

You should be getting more than that out of it, the Turbo light should be on if you press the throttle more than 1/2 way under load.

Check for broken/split pipes around the turbo, the intake pipes and also the wiring on the pressure switch that works the light.

I paid £4700 for it which I thought was ok ..I have spent about £400.00 on it c/d tyre ect...where is the vac pipe located ? will that stop the turbo working ...I just tried it again and def no turbo coming in.
