Well you certainly seem to be haveing seven shades of $hit luck with your truck mate, i'd be honest with this buyer tho, just tell em the truth and see if they still want it at a discount or summat, after all it might be just the head gasket blown even if it was new, also did you check the lenght of the new bolts against the old ones? heard of that one before, slightly different size resulting in em bottoming out before the torque was right, haveing spent all that on it i would certainly have the head off again and have a good look, then decide if it's worht persueing or calling it a day, dont know what it owe's you but at worst their worth breaking, spares seem to make a bit,

at the risk of tempting providence (and touching ummm veneered chipboard,
well it was wood once) my old slug still going well and i've no record of a new head ever being fitted, i have gone to extreem lenghts to help cooling, two back-up fans at the front plus another rad and fan at the back, electric water pump (24v but need a 12v one) modded the fans to work when the ign's off (like proper cars) this was thanks to your mate MattF he's not a bad lad really,
anyway good luck with it mate

I contacted the buyer this morning and told them about the problem, and sai to think about it and make me an offer on it as it sits. i wasnt implying that i would sellit like that, more the opposite, that i would feel really bad and im not that type of person.

Any how the rod bolts were cheacked and that was ok.
I dont want to break it but I think thats where its going, as i just cannot afford any more, I am now in debt due to this truck.

It must be a cracked block, Im going to K'eal it as a last resort and hope that seals the crack(s)

Daz i would certainly check the head again, have you contacted whoever you got it from?, if it has cracked again (and it is possible for a new head to go) you may get a replacement if he's a reputeable seller

well did a sniff test today and a running cooling system test and its pressursing from either the head or block, (block im thinking)

Im not spending any more money on it, as far as im concerned it can go as is, im severly ####ed off with this thing and am super skint know with no tow vehicle to get my race car to rockingham this week

The irony is, i cant even affird to advertise it at the moment,

So if anybody wants a good condition 2.4td surf 1993, 1 years mot 1 month tax, drop me a line for offers.

Thanks for your help everybody, but i just cant afford to keep throwing money at a lemon.
