kilometre counter not working

I recently got this surf and the km clocking wasn't wrking on it.

It's showing me the speed but doesn't clock the miles/or kilometres. Do you know how to fix this?

I had this. I pumped the reset on the dash and it sorted itself out.

Hey Thanks. Good guess but i'm afraid it's more than that in this case. Is there a cable that runs from the gear box that I should be looking for?
The speed works but no km clocking. maybe the mechanism inside is broken or it's been disconnected on purpose?

Not sure on the models (do a search) some have cables others are electric plug connector

It's not to hard to take the screen out to have a look
