noise when reversing

hi all im new to the site . i have a 93 2.4 ssrx td auto and the prob is when i put her in revers its fine until i start to revers then it make a loud rattling noise????? any ideas cheers joe

Does it do it in any other gears, roughly where is the noise coming from. Wheels or gearbox

I think you have answered your own question, second hand gearbox would be cheaper than even thinking about taking the box apart.

Right, as a last ditch effort mate... as your looking into the engine bay there is a red/orange dipstick to the right hand side at the back, check the fluid levels an maybe change it if it looks brownish.

Fingers crossed for that sorting you out mate, if not give either 'stormforce' or 'supersurf' an Email or a F.A.O in the general section.

They are both, great blokes an have surf spares a fair bit so will probably be able to sort you right out mate!

Is it only when you're moving?

Check it's not in 4WD and that the transfer lever is pulled firmly backwards.
