Turbo power

Hello

I have a 1988 Hilux Surf SSR Turbo Desiel. I notice that my truck lacks power in first gear and is sluggish. I also notice black smoke comes out when the turbo kicks in.

I have the following questions 1) how can i increase turbo power 2) how can i stop black smoke pouring out

Note : i am a newbie in all of this! thanks for your help!

To start with you need to do a complete oil,coolant and filter change.
Fill the new fuel filter with redex or atf and then drive the truck like you stole it to give the fuel system a good clean thru.Block off the egr (do a search for egr and you will find all you need to know about doing the job.)its a 1 min job to do.If that fails then you may need to look at the injectors and get either new or get yours refurbed
