would anyone know how many teeth are on a 3.0 litre front diff crown wheel,and how many on the pinion ??

Yeah, it dosn't matter, the last number just tells you the pinion type. 2 = 2 pinion, 4 = 4 pinion and 5 = 4 pinion with LSD.

The fronts are smaller dia ring, (7 1/2") vs 8" on the rear, but I checked a pair of the 4.8's I have here, they both have the same number of teeth on the ring gear even though the front is smaller so I don't think it matters.

Oops! Tony may be correct. 37/9 seems to be the older ratio and actually 4.11.

Just out of curiousity wouldn's a 37/9 be a stronger ring and pinion combination?
