  • warning lights

hello peeps,i own a 1989 surf 2.4 manual import.wonder if anyone can help me.i have recently got some warning lights come on that flash now and again but not all the time.the turbo, the engine problem, the timing belt, the oil and the battery warning lights.
i thought it was the drive belts because they were pretty shagged out so i,ve changed them but still keep getting these lights flashing.does anybody have any ideas?is this some sort of code that i need to have expert knowledge about?or will i have to bow down and take it to a toyota service center.hope you guys can help because i love driving my surf, the girlfriend says its because i,m having a mid life crisis, she doesnt understand.

Your Alternator is possibly ready to fail.

have your electrics got seriously wet recently, i.e wading in deep water. That can cause the dashboard to light up like an xmas tree.

Are all your belts tight and the idlers running free?

all my belts seem to be tight enough.had to re tighten the one that goes to the steering pump.had my belts changed by a reliable mechanic about two weeks ago because thought it would cure the problem but it didnt even though the old belts were knackered

How odd. Are you sure it's the right alternator? Have you tested the output?

i am assuming its the right alternator because the mechanic told me that the one for my truck was different to newer models of surf and the other ones would be wrong.something to do with a mechanism at the back that operated a servo for something.
