Hi All, im new to surfing, first experience so far is to save and replace my cylinder head (thanks for the info MARKY). Is there an after market auto shifter available for the 2nd gen 2.4td or do i have to stick with the original?

You can buy auto shifters from places like Summit racing in the states, but I don't think there is any Surf specific ones, you'll have to make it fit.

One thing you'll need to be aware of is putting the O/D button somewhere (probably the Dash).

Used to have a Hurst sequential shifter on my Camaro - it was the Dogs doodahs.

I'm not sure whether the Auto shifter goes straight in the top of the box or has a cable operated relay mechanism. If it's the later then you should be able to make something fit. Generally the aftermarket shifters are made for Rover, Ford and GM boxes though - the sort of things that are used in Drag cars.

      Cheers
