Hi Stevie, are you talking about the 3 bolts that hold the idler arm to the chassis. I have took 3 or 4 of them off and the bolts have a nuts on the far side of the chassis. If the head of the bolt has come off then you can just knock it out, no need for drilling or helicoils. Thats if I am thinking of the same idler arm bolts.

The extractor is made of hardened steel. If it is still wedged in the hole you drilled (highly likely) you will not be able to drill into it again.

Do what Nev said - try and get someone to weld a bolt onto the end (if there's enough sticking out) and undo it that way.

Otherwise you do have a problem. See if you can get a centre punch and tap it around.

Pity you fell asleep = could have called up this afternoon and had a looksee.

        wot a palaver

the only part of the bolt left in the hole is the threaded part(about an inch) into that is jammed about an inch of (useless extractor) so from the face of the hole to the extractor is a gap of about an inch. I,m going to have a prod at it now for an hour, if i don,t get lucky then the cat is having another kick! will update in about an hour. cheers.
