hello all and nice to read so much about all these awsome trucks ,now i have a import 1991 2.4td auto and have been beasting it on play and pay days and my rear diff has lost some teeth by the sound comming from it .now i have never replaced a diff is this a hard job to replace or straight forward like im lead to belive and does anyone know the correct oil to refill ,my other question is can i get a lsd for my model and anyone know of one for sale , all help in this supject will be gratfully recived ,as if im going to brake it im going to fix it

LSD are available, but not easy to find. You sometimes get them on ebay. UK spec 4Runners have them I think, so you may be able to buy one from Toyota directly, but you'll need to be sure you get one with the correct ratio. There is an axle code on the VIN plate on the firewall under the bonnet. Decode instructions are here...

Hi Chris and welcome, the rear axle swap is extremely easy, I've done two so far but you will need a mate to give you a lift though, Simply unbolt the shocks, arb stabilisers, Brake lines from the drums, stabiliser arms and rear prop and lower it down on a trolley jack. cheers all for the quick responce and all have been very helpfull ,i have now found a replacment axel with lsd and im starting to prep today ie remove old axel and to under seal the underbody as truck is mint anjd want to keep it that way also help protect it from my offroad beasting i do ,i will replace all shocks while there too i have pro shocks 9000 atm my replace with them again or open to any known good shocks to go with my 2inch lift i will remove arb and drive slower on bends lol
