  • crankshaft seal removal!

    Timing cover and belt is now off....I think i may have a small leak from crankshaft......how do i replace the seal? why'll it's stripped i may as well renmew whatever needs it.

    Replace it .......it just hooks out then press in a genuine toyota one (it's easier if the rad is out) ....Make sure it sits level......... just done mine last month

      what else can i do?

      why'll i've got cover off is there anything else i can check/renew before everything goes back together?

        t belt,tensioner(wter pump if you are feeling flush) new fanbelts,new pas belt,new a/c belt once they are all done,trouble free for lots of miles

          Seal can be removed by screwing in two small self tapping screws into the metal rim and then use these to pill it out. When installing the new seal clean the area well and use some loctite designed for seals to make sure it stays there. Do not get loctite on the innerr area of the seal. Use a smear of multi purpose grease on the seal lip.
