Spill Control Valve is ECU controlled and only gets around 5 Volts so do not connect to battery voltage. Check the connections. Have you tried bleeding the injectors?

you should hear the fuel cut-off solenoid click open or closed. Replacing one should be do-able with the pump in situ, and Ive been told it should cost 70 squid or so for the solenoid.
mine had that exact problem, and usually cut out when it got hot. the local diesel expert told me its a common problem, and 90% of faults are solenoid related. his words, not mine.

i replaced the whole pump, cos i wanted a challenge. tw4t!

        Sucess!

Thanks to all advice folks. Borrowed a ecu from a mate and.SPURT SPURT!!!
I think the previous muppet had wired the spill valve up to the battery and burnt out the fuel thingy in the ecu!?
Worth trying every option on these wagons! And having a amp meter is a must.
        Thanks again
