Can anyone advise, Ive got a 2.4 surf, had head replaced last may and only done short trips (60 ) miles since then. The other week covered about 110 miles and when i stopped the water was coming out of the expansion tank. Temp didnt move, AA checked water pressure, all seemed well. Removed stat and drove home no problem, Ive put a new stat in and all seems ok but havent done a lot of miles yet. I have no idea why this happened, can anyone shed some light on this?????????

Only if you're planning on selling it to some unsuspecting mug on ebay. That sort of thing's poison.

Go to a local garage and ask them to check the coolant for exhaust gases.

If it hasn't overheated what's the problem? By all means get things checked out but i wouldn't start panicking just yet. When did you last check the coolant level and what level did you fill it to?

K-seal, rad-weld whatever, they all do more harm than good and were only ever designed to delay the inevitable anyway - avoid them like the plague.

Thanks for the help guys, havent been online today, had to go to Yorkshire for the day. She Didnt overheat on temp gauge but was blowing water out. I have put new stat and cap on her. Check the oil and water every week and the water level is up to the pipe that runs into the expansion tank. I think i will get the coolant checked this week and see what they say.

How high do you fill the expansion tank? If it's overfilled it will chuck some out just to make space.
