EFI to mechanical pump

Got a 2.4 td efi with no power supplies to fuel pump valve is there any way to convert using older mechanical style pump and changing inlet manifold etc.
Any help would be appreciated as i,m new to toyota.

i guess that conversion would be easier than the other way round, but unless you already have a mechanical pump i wouldn't bother, 2nd hand the mech pumps are rarer than rocking horse shit, and figures of around £1200 were being talked about last year when another member was looking to replace their mechanical pump by importing one from oz

I did a head gasket on a toyota van last week and the engines are all the same even the old pick up hilux uses the same lump was just wondering if anyone had done this conversion as there are loads of mech pumps out there second hand . anybody got one for sale including inlet manifold and pipework.

Thanks for that just emailed the guy to see if its definetely from a turbo model .Do u think i could fit this and leave the efi manifold on with all the electrics ,well i know i can but shouldnt really effect the running as the pump will be metering the fuel not ecu ?

i was looking at this for a 3.0 into a 2.4 conversion, transits have a throttle valve that run better with it cable tied open, someone on here has done this conversion i,ll have to search?

My truck

Somebody had already done this conversion to my truck. The engine has the EFI components and markings, but the pump is mechanical.

The throttle valve will stay open by itself, it is spring loaded that way. However, check to make sure the throttle butterfly is centred in the full open position. Mine was canted slightly, so I adjusted the position of the vacumn pot (three bolts hold in in place) so that the butterfly was centered.

So whats different does ur truck perform ok with no signals from the ecu and is the ecu still in place , just trying to pick your brain as im going to try this in acouple of weeks.Once my mechanical pump arrives.What did your mechanical pump come off of originally any help would be grateful.

I don't have any ECU equipment in my engine bay. I have a mechanical pump that has a single hose to the intake manifold - that's the extent of the complexity.

dont suppose u know what the pump is out of do u and is there any numbers on it presume its bosch.is there anyone over there who could supply a pump my brother stays in aus so he could send it to me thanks.

i,ve got mech pump on the way from older mk1 surf have u still got ur ecu fitted in glove box mines an auto so will have to leave most of the electrics in apart from the ones on the pump but it should still run as the auto box has its own ecu just seeing if youve heard of this before in an auto dont know if the efi pump connects to the ecu in anyway to determine gear change .
