I have been looking on the net for a long time now trying to find a decent roof mounted light pod. I don't want roof rack, but that seems like the only way to put spots on top. anyone have any suggestions.

www.direct5x5.co.uk do a pod, nice is a matter of opinion, but it's the only one you're gonna find unless you use something like the rally style bonnet or roof pods but they ain't cheap

well it looks like this
it is £96.35 inc VAT and delivery
Search for pics of Marky's old 3rd gen (the silver one) he had one fitted on that. I think Rodleach has one, there's a few others got them too. IMO the bars look much nicer but it is a matter of taste i guess.=========

cheers guys, i would prefer a bar preferrably chromed or stainless steel, would look really nice with the blood red paint job, and the stainless wheels and chromed bumpers.Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!

Re
The light pod from direct4x4 is great!
If you want to, you can paint it ANY colour you want including silver or chrome!
I painted mine the same colour is my surf!

I'll definately keep it open as an option, though i'll probably have a go at making my own for now, the 4 spots on the light pod are not enough especially for fierce offroading where you need lights pointing in all directions in order to see all the undulating terrain. illl let you know how i get on, who knows i might even make a good one that i could pass on to other users.Completely bitten by the off road bug, and what better vehicle to do it in!
