Draining radiator/engine block

Hi,
Decided on an engine coolant/antifreeze change today, the weather conditions were just right for squerming obout on the driveway,
After removing the bash plate I found it very difficult to locate the Radiator drain tap and there was no way I could crack open the bottom hose due to both bieng obscured by the intercooler,not wanting to disturb this, I wimped out and decided to replenish via the top hoses,this will suffice for the winter,but leaves me with a nagging feeling that without bottom flushing the rad.its a job only half done.
Can someone advise how to perform this task easier or in a different way?

Update your profile with vehicle details, it helps to identify vehicle specific problems.
Cooling system should be thoroughly flushed and refilled and burped if neccessary. run engine up to temp with rad cap off and heaters set to hot, Check coolant level after a change and keep topped up.
Do a search on cooling system you'll find all the answers you need. good luck.

ps. if the intercooler is in the way, take it off!

AC rad lies flat under the bash plate, maybe he did it lying down and forgot to stand up afterwards
