  • 2L-TE problems

hey guy i have a 91 model manual 2L-TE surf,
been having a few problems with the old girl here it goes :
i will driving it and seems to be working fine then all of a sudden the red check engine light comes on and i either get no turbo and feels like it is realy lacking pwer and wont go over 80kms or the turbo kicks in and the red light stops and then it is working fine, i have checked and replaced all hoses to the turbo and from the sensor and it is still happening but not as bad i must say,
had a friend check it and he said looks like a crank angle sensor, thing is it doesnt seem to run that rough for a buggerd crank sensor has it moments where it feels like it is fouling up a little,
anyhelp would be much appreciated as it has got me stuck and i am not very well mechanically minded
    thanks
    the bear

Timer control valve is a bugger to fix, often just changing valve dosn't fix the problem.

People have resorted to just getting a used pump to fix it.

It's in the injector pump, best option is to replace or recondition the pump.

Check all connections and wiring to the fuel pump. The TCV is on the bottom rear of pump. Could just be loose or dirty connector.

Worst case you'll need a new pump, part no 22100-5B-300 which is about $300 from one of your Toyota dealers, quite cheap really.
