...which way round does the thermostat on a 2.4 fit?

With the spring side facing towards the block is how i've fitted it, and i'm sure it's right but it keeps running through my mind that it may be wrong, and if it is the consequences may prove expensive.

The above is the main reason you shouldn't run without a thermostat - when you decide to put one back you have to ask which way round it goes.

Yeah, the spring bit goes towards the motor, more important to get the little valve in the outer ring of the stat at the top.
