  • 3 door 2nd gen Surfs

Today i saw a 2nd gen 3 door surf no rear doors the truck was going down the A2 in Kent shouting between my truck and the three doors owner at 60mphin tandem holding all the speeders up apparently there is only 5 in the country originally i thought it was a 1st gen but this was on a J plater and it was identical to a 2nd gen has anyone come across these before.

Theres quite a few around, I have one, Long shacked dude, Mudsurfer had one, bibs, know of 2 more in Basingstoke right now, etc....

I remember a stupid e-bay ad that said "only five in the country" last year, and we had at least 7 or 8 posting on the forum in that day!!! He must have been the buyer.

    They are nice looking trucks.

Cheers Tony i did like the look of the three door i thought at first he had done a front facelift and welded the doors up and replaced the interior with a first gen. Were these spare first gen shells that Toyota used up by doing some sort of hybrid 2nd gen but like Vauxhall putting Calibra turbo engines in the last of the Cavaliers.

Not really, the car is bascially identical to the a 2nd Gen 4 door of the same year, same wheel base, engines, etc, just rearrainged the door and rear windows. The front door is the same size as a Pickups, longer than the 4 doors front doors.

It was just another option. Would have been nice if Toyota made then shorter wheelbase like the 2 door Shoguns, would have been a nimble little offroader.

I thnk the got dropped in about 92/93ish, as I have seen flush headlight versions. Mostly cos the Yanks didn't like them and they didn't sell many.

Mine has a few thing missing, so not a good example to show, its a long term project, V8 motor, Solid front axle, 35's etc....
