I did a mileage test and I get exactly 20 MPG in my 2.4 1989 surf on daily use. Is there anything I can do to get a little more?

On a recent trip to Wales, I got about 30mpg at a steady 60mph on the motorway, and about 10mpg at a steady 2mph on the wayfarer.strata florida ( mostly in 4WD low range)
The average was about 20 I think. That was carrying approx 250kg og gear in the back too.
I get average of 22mpg on my urban cycle.Rob
Still working for the man!

The operating rev-range of the 2.4 is so narrow that I doubt you could get much better than 25mpg average no matter how you drive.
I'm about to embark on the SVO journey (after trying 50/50 mix for a few months). There's a WVO reclaimer here in Plymouth who do the leave it to sit for a month for you.
Now if only I could stop it smoking in the mornings...
