Fuel Pump/Pumps?????

Hi All
I am currently changing my Fuel injector pump on my 2.4 efi TD Surf and was looking at some online stuff, Manuals etc and found some stuff stating that they have a feed pump as well?

Not the filter housing or Diesel Injector pump, do they have a electronic pump between tank and filter????

can't see one on the EPC, never heard of there being one.

I read something earlier about putting one in when doing veg conversions to reduce the strain on the injector pump.
