Improved by replacing clips on fuel filter lines with Jubilee Clips!!!!! Suggested by the mechanic it is with today (free of charge advice 
).
Still does cut out, but not quite as easily... I obviously have air getting in somewhere else too.
Is it reasonable to assume that the fuel leak (top seal on the pump) that is being fixed today may allow air to get into the system and could be another source of pressure loss?
What do you think?
