mileage gauge not working

Hi my speedommeter is working o.k. but my mileage and trip mileage clocks are 'froze'any suggestions on likely cause & fixes welcomed, regards

Hi Robb,

I am new on here and have a 1992 surf and had the same problem , here is the link to remove upper dash.

When you get the unit out , its a matter of prising 6 black lugs away gently to split the casing (relativley easy) then remove speedo needle by pulllig away gently, remove card clock face to reveal clock wheels, i got a screwdriver and gently moved the outer one round as if you are adding miles, do not attempt to go backwards as they wont, check all others are loose then reassemble.

PS PICTURE ON THE LINK SHOWS SPEEDO CABLE I DID NOT HAVE THIS MINE IS PURLEY ELECTRONIC.

The whole process took approx 20 -25 mins

Hope this helps, worked for me, others might say diffrent but I am a newbie surfer
